
I’m about to go on an adventure into uncharted territory. This adventure will be full of excitement, risk, fear and a whole lot of unknowns. It will also be, at times, the most uncomfortable experience of my life. This is a journey outside the comfort zone.
I’ve lived my life, as many of us have, inside a comfort zone so small that I can hardly breath. I’ve been afraid to take risks and leap into the unknown. The fear of failure has stopped me from living the life of my dreams.
From here on out I plan on changing that. I intend to face my fears and live a life of my dreams. I know you also face the same fears, anxieties and doubts so lets set out on this journey together.
It starts with one step
You have to make the leap. Take a chance and put yourself out there. But most importantly, you have to enjoy the journey. This is a blog about self discovery, taking chances and being brave with life.
These steps don’t have to be large by any means and as a matter of fact I encourage you to start small. By taking these small steps you will grow little by little and small steps will soon turn into large steps. To venture outside your comfort zone does not mean taking big un-calculated risks, not at all. It might mean simply changing your everyday routines and habits such as:
- Going inside the coffee shop instead of the drive thru. Be social, say hello to at least one person.
- Ride your bike to work. Put yourself out there, be vulnerable for a little bit.
- Call someone instead of email or text. Be a little more personal, strike up a conversation.
The idea is to start small and to do at least one thing everyday that is uncomfortable for you. By making these small changes you will also change your mindset which will lead to more self confidence, a more fulfilling life and less fear of the unknown.
Face it
Speaking of fear, which is a very real emotion and grips us all at different points in our lives. It manifests itself in many ways such as anxiety, anger and frustration. How we deal with these emotions dictates how fulfilling our time on Earth will be.
By making changes in your life and intentionally putting yourself in uncomfortable situations you will quickly realize that fear can be tamed and that we can overcome it. I used to have a fear of traveling in cars with other people (almost claustrophobic) but by changing my mindset I was able to overcome it and am now able to:
- Travel with friends
- Stop coming up with excuses
- Be more social
Whatever your fear is don’t let it stop you. Face it head on, crush it and let it make you stronger.
Lets make a change together

Join me as I pursue a life outside the comfort zone. My goal is to expand this zone so much that it no longer exists. The journey will be uncomfortable at times but that is how we change ourselves.
If your tired of living your life full of fear and self doubts, make a change and make it now. Life is to short to not do what you love. Stop living your life with self doubts and “what if’s.” Do one thing every day that scares you. This is my plan. Let’s make it happen!
